DS Lite Sells 136,500 in Two Days
Nintendo's redesigned handheld is already performing well.
This morning
, 1UP reported
Nintendo's
DS Lite sold a little over 135,000 units during the first week of June in Japan, but sales numbers for the revamped dual-screen portable's launch in the United States hadn't yet been released. Unsurprisingly, DS Lite is flying off the shelves over here, too.
An press release hasn't been issued, but a
Reuters report
on the latest NPD Group numbers includes word from Nintendo that the company sold 136,500 DS Lites on Sunday and Monday. Within two days, Nintendo's already achieved their weekly performance in Japan. It's no wonder the machine's hard to find.
Additionally, an unnamed Nintendo spokesperson told the news service Nintendo believes DS Lite is on track with the Nintendo DS launch figures. The original handheld reached 500,000 units sold within 10 days of its release, and based on what we already know, reaching that goal seems more of a supply issue, at this point.
We're attempting to follow up with more from Nintendo, so stay tuned.
